About this Annexe

This beautiful family home is a true reflection of our standard Core specification – very few uplifts were added to this annexe. It’s clad in grey Marley Cedral cladding, features a flat EDPM roof and white PVCu windows and doors.

Inside, the specification includes liberty oak laminate wood flooring, electric heating, LED downlights throughout, fully-fitted kitchen and bath room.

We got in touch and liked the idea of having the entire process managed for us.

Choices

Zoe Trickett initially looked at buying a flat for her and son, Bradley, but soon discovered a flat wasn’t going to meet her needs;

“We looked at buying a flat close to Mum, but it meant we would miss out on having a garden and the point of us looking for somewhere new to live was so that we could be much closer together.” Says Zoe. “The flat would have cost too much to adapt and modify too.” Adds Zoe.

Zoe’s Mum, Val, was also helping find a solution and initially thought an extension could be an option;

“We considered an extension because we liked the idea of Zoe and our grandson having their own private space but still being close to us.” said Val.

After weeks of deliberating and looking at log cabins, Zoe saw a Facebook advert for our annexes and got in touch.

A consultation was set up and the family were convinced a granny annexe in Val’s garden would make the perfect home for Zoe and Bradley.

Bradley has autism and ADHD, and additional sensory problems – his care and safety needs were the key motivator for the move.

“Bradley can be clumsy and fall a lot,” explained Zoe, “that’s why stairs can be an issue.”

“Priceless”

Zoe decided on an annexe from our core range – the Melton. With a bedroom each for her and Bradley, the annexe is finished in grey Marley Cedral Weatherboard with flat EDPM roof and white PVC windows.

Inside the annexe liberty oak laminate wood flooring, electric heating, and LED downlights were fitted throughout. The kitchen is fitted to a high specification and the family have a good-sized bathroom.

Zoe was initially worried about moving into the annexe as Bradley doesn’t like change. However, the pair soon settled in and now love their annexe;

“It’s so much easier for us living here,” says Zoe, “with everything on one level it has reduced the risk of accidents. It’s completely removed the stress. I worried Bradley would spend more time in Mums house as he’s used to it, but he absolutely loves our new home!”

Zoe is finding so close to her parents fantastic as she has health issues which mean she can sometimes not feel well enough to look after Bradley. Having Mum and Dad so close by is perfect for when she needs an hour or two to herself.  

Val was impressed with the standard of work during the building process; “it was so fast and efficient; the service was really good. At the end of each day the team even put the fence back up for us, so we weren’t worried about Bradley wandering off.”

Zoe sums up life in an annexe best; “I’m just really happy with my house. To be given my own place back again is just priceless.”
