What is an annexe

A Granny Annexe is a compact, self-contained living space located on the same property as a main family home. It typically includes one or two bedrooms, a living area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private bathroom. Often designed for elderly family members, such as parents or grandparents, granny annexes offer a balance of independence and proximity for multi-generational living.

While commonly used for senior relatives, a garden annexe can also be ideal additional living space for adult children or guests. These purpose-built spaces are becoming increasingly popular across the UK due to their flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and ability to keep families close—without sacrificing personal space.

A seamless transition into the next chapter of your life

There are four steps that take you from our first introduction to gaining planning permission, the delivery and build of your iHus annexe, and the best part – moving into your new home with full access to our after-care service.

Understand The Process
Step 1:
Understanding You

We begin with a video consultation to explore your ideas and needs. Next, we provide a personalised quote with a Price Lock Guarantee valid for six months. A comprehensive site survey will then be arranged where you can browse and choose a range of annexe options to make your new home truly unique.

Step 2:
Planning Permission

Our planning experts, NAPC, handle the entire process, from applying for planning permission to working with the authorities. We’re so confident in successfully gaining permission, we offer a Money Back Planning Guarantee – so you’ll be refunded every penny if your application is denied.

Step 3:
Build & Delivery

Our customer liaison team will support you throughout the build process, providing regular updates and answering any questions. Our dedicated project managers ensure timely delivery, allowing you to focus on preparing for your new iHus annexe.

Step 4:
Moving In & Aftercare

A team member will help you settle in on move-in day, with the option to request a handyman for any final touches. You’ll also be invited to join our Open Hus community. After six months, we’ll check in to ensure everything is perfect, backed by a 10-year build guarantee.
