A granny annexe is exempt from council tax as long as it forms part of the main home and the person living in it is a dependent relative.
You usually are not allowed to sell a granny annexe separately to the main property, as stipulated in the planning permission conditions.

When you book a free consultation with us we will come out to you to help you decide what sort of annexe you would like.
Once we have an idea of what you are looking for, we will find an iHUS community member with an annexe most like the one you are thinking about. We have community members who will be happy to show you their granny pod, in various locations throughout the UK. We will arrange a time and date with them when you can go and visit unaccompanied by us. This will give you plenty of opportunity to have a look round their home, ask any questions you might have and receive honest answers.

The iHUS process has been honed over the years to provide a hassle-free route to independent living.
The first step in the process is to give us a call and organise a free consultation. One of our expert team will come to your property to assess your garden for suitability and discuss your requirements.
During this initial consultation we will consider your current and future needs, and restrictions your property presents, and your lifestyle. From here we can recommend suitable annexes and options for you to choose from. Following on from this initial meeting we will draw up a detailed plan and quote. This will contain a clear breakdown of costs and options. When you are happy we will visit your home, finalise your choices and obtain signatures.
Once all the contracts are in place, we will undertake the planning permission process. You won’t need to worry about a thing. As soon as planning permission has been granted we will get in touch with you to schedule a build slot.
We construct the property off site and lift the frame into place. This saves on disruption for you and means your granny annexe is ready much sooner. When it is in situ we will add the finishing touches and internal elements, including utilities.
