Last week here at iHUS we wrote about What To Do When Your Parents Need Extra Care and at the end of the post we talked briefly about Granny Annexes being an ideal solution. So, this week will look at what to do next if you think that a Granny Annexe is just what you are looking for in; The Granny Annexe Process Part 2.
Granny Annexes Are A Complete Home
When thinking of annexes, some people automatically assume they are glorified summer houses or one-room log cabins. But this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Our Granny Annexes are designed to be homes that be enjoyed for many years. The first step, if you haven’t already is to have a look at the different types of annexes available.
This introductory video is a good place to start.
As you can see they are complete living spaces, elegantly designed with large free-flowing living areas and modern fitted kitchens and bathrooms.
Bespoke Granny Annexe Consultation And Quotation
We don’t provide a one size fits all off the shelf products either, we offer a free consultation so that you can be sure we design your bespoke new home in exactly the way that you want it to look.
Our consultation process assessed the outdoor space you have, the living requirements you are looking for and should answer any questions or queries that you may have.
Here is a run-through of how the consultation and quotation process is carried out.
To give you a better idea as to how a bespoke Granny Annexe can look here is a virtual walkthrough of a bespoke annexe that we designed and built recently for a couple in Kent.
iHUS Granny Annexe Project Management From Start To Finish
One thing that can be a stress and a strain, particularly when it comes to building a new property, is trying to keep on top of the whole project.
From ordering materials to co-ordinating workers and dealing with any issues that crop up along the way.
Well, here at iHUS you don’t have to worry about any of that. Once you are happy with your chosen future home then we will look after every aspect of the project.
All you have to do is move in!
We have many years of experience of designing and building granny annexes and the whole building process is painless and runs like clockwork.
We wouldn’t think you would be interested or have the time to watch a granny annexe being constructed in real-time, so here is a time-lapse video that shows you how straightforward and easy the building process is.
The Granny Annexe Process Part 2 Build Procedure
How we usually build the Granny Annexes is that the mainframe of the building is built off-site and at the same time, we have ground engineers that will prepare the outdoor space so that it will be a suitable foundation for the Granny Annexe to be secured.
The frame is then delivered, like a large and luxurious flat-pack product, assembled on the prepared ground and then the exterior and interior is finished to the agreed criteria specified in the consultation process.
We made this video guide to the granny annexe build process here so you can see for yourselves how simple and straightforward the process is.
How Long Do Granny Annexes Take To Build?
As our granny annexes are custom made there is no definitive time scale as they are all slightly different. But the process from preparing the outside ground to you collecting the keys to your new home normally takes between 6 and 7 weeks. Maybe even less time for a smaller annexe.
So, you can see that it is quite a speedy process, especially when compared to the stress and strain of securing a house, getting a mortgage, dealing with solicitors and removal companies etc.
