It’s well and truly here, it’s early December and therefore time to consider your annexe Christmas interiors!
No matter what you have planned for the festive season, the right decorations are sure to make the greatest family occasion even more special this year. We’re getting into the seasonal spirit here at iHus by giving you some Christmassy interior inspiration for all the family to enjoy!
In no particular order, here are our ten suggestions:
Wrap & Display Your Families’ Presents
This one is an easy one AND should help you to get a little organised (which is something I think most of us need at this time of year!). Wrap up your presents for the whole family early and display them in a decorative fashion – this way you’re bringing a Christmas display to your annexe interiors and you can get your grandchildren excited and guessing what is inside when they visit.
Use Your Table Space
Your dining table or side tables are a great space for displaying Christmas decorations. Whether it’s a tabletop tree (if you want to go for a more hassle-free Christmas tree or more simple ornaments and Christmas knick-knacks, you’ll be delighted with the decorative layouts you can design.
Start a Window Display
If you’re out and about there’s nothing better than seeing a beautiful Christmas display adorning a shop window. Or perhaps you’ve seen lights in a neighbours window that have taken your fancy? Why not replicate this in your annexe for a window light display for all your family and friends to enjoy!
Get the Christmas Crockery Out
Is there anything more festive than Christmassy cutlery? We don’t think so! No matter whether it’s your favourite drink holder, plates or even something a little more unusual – nothing says it’s Christmas more than a festively decorated meal time.
Ornaments in bookshelves
If you don’t like going overboard and simply want a hint of Christmas here and there around your annexe – make the most of your bookcases, sideboards and other furniture by filling those nooks and crannies with an angel or a decorative reindeer. Even the slightest hint of Christmas can get the most humbug of people into the Christmas spirit.
Dining Chairs With Style
You might not have ever considered it but your dining chairs are a fantastic space for hanging decorations. Take a bauble or similar along with some festive ribbon and hang your newly made decorations to your heart’s content.
Another go-to in simple transformation to any room is to change the cushions. Away with the subtle comfortable cushions that you keep on display all year round and in with the cushions with a Christmas glow. The difference these can make to a room is incredible.
Look at a Mirror Wreath
A mirror on your wall can give a room a feel of additional space and can also be decorated like a festive treat too. Make or buy a wreath and hang it over your mirror. This way, whenever you check and see yourself, you’ll have a beautiful floral frame to accompany your reflection.
When you enter a room, the first place you look isn’t always up – yet here we have some incredible space for you to make use of. Take your decorations and dangle them from the lights and anything else at height in the room. By doing so you’ll be sure to get your visitors excited with the lights and displays you have created.
Don’t Forget the Outside
It’s not just the inside where you can create a Christmassy impact on your annexe! Using lights and other special features, you have your outside space to create some beautiful displays. The annexes we build are often in incredible outside spaces in people’s gardens and the opportunity to shine for the month of December is not to be missed.
