One of the things most people most enjoy choosing when designing their own home is the bathroom, and a granny annexe bathroom is no exception.
Here at iHUS, we love to give you as much choice as possible when designing your bathroom.
In this article, we will look at some of the options you have and things you might want to consider when choosing your granny annexe bathroom.
Choosing Your Granny Annexe Bathroom
The first thing to consider when choosing your granny annexe bathroom is deciding how you want to use the bathroom.
Obviously, all the bathrooms come with a toilet and sink but beyond that the choice is yours.
If you know you struggle to get in and out of a bath, don’t like the idea of sitting in your own dirty water, or just never find the time for a bath then a shower room is more likely to be your ideal.
The shower room has an Instinct 6 shower enclosure and an antibacterial, anti-slip shower tray.
If you love nothing more than luxuriating in a nice hot bath, then choose a bathroom with a shower over the single-ended bath. It comes with a frameless square glass shower screen.
Alternatively, if you have, or anticipate, mobility problems and are unable to use baths or shower cubicles, a wet room might be most suitable for you. You can choose from 4 styles of Polysafe Hydro flooring. This is a special type of wet room floor covering that provides an anti-slip surface with high durability-perfect for high use rooms that are consistently wet.
It is certainly worth thinking about the future. No one likes to think that they might lose independence or mobility but designing your granny annexe for the future will enable you to live in it for much longer.
If you have a diagnosis that means you are likely to lose mobility it is worth considering a wet room.
Walls and Floors
When designing your granny annexe bathroom, we have lots of options for you to choose from.
An alternative to tiles is wall panels. These are large screens that are much easier to care for than tiles. Unlike grout, they are fully waterproof and antibacterial. There are no little dirt traps and you can just spray and wipe.
They look stunning, too. Choose from four styles: Travertine, Slate, Frost White, or Antique Marble.
For the flooring we have four styles of waterproof, click vinyl flooring for you to choose from. This type of flooring is waterproof and provides a warm underfoot surface. You can select the same shade as the rest of the annexe for a stylish continuation.
Upgrade Your Bathroom Suite
A bathroom suite from iHUS is beautiful and classic.
As standard, they all come with a Vitra S20 Semi-pedestal washbasin 55cm in white. If you prefer, you can upgrade to a gloss vanity unit. A basin sits atop two soft-close cupboard doors, giving you a stylish storage solution. You can pick from white or grey.
The standard WC is a Vitra s20 close-coupled, soft close toilet. The upgrade option is a comfort height close coupled WC, with an extra 6omm in height, which makes it easier to get on and off.
The single-ended white bath comes as standard and in a range of sizes to suit the bathroom size. You can opt to upgrade to a reinforced, twin grip bath to make it easier to get in and out of. The frameless glass shower screen comes as standard.
The shower is a Bristan utility lever bar shower, which is simple to operate and control, as it the sink tap. The Crosco Della basin mix tap will help to prevent scalding by allowing hot and cold water to be mixed together.
Accessibility Options
If mobility is an issue for you, or you think it might be in the future, we have a selection of mobility aids that can be added during the build process.
For those who struggle to stand for a shower, we can ass the slated wooden shower seat to the wet room or shower room. This is an easy to clean, foldable shower seat with stainless steel support legs. It looks great and will fold right up out of the way for if you have guests.
Grab rails are not known for looking sleek and stylish, but the polished Wave stainless steel grab rails do. We can position them anywhere you feel you might benefit. They fully met all regulations for accessible and adaptable dwellings.
