When you’re planning your granny annexe with iHUS, one of the most exciting parts of the process is choosing the exterior finish of your annexe. It’s the chance to really make your annexe unique to you, choosing a finish you like and that blends in with existing buildings. Read on to view our granny annexe cladding options.
Marley Cedral Lap Weatherboard
Each annexe we build comes as standard with Marley Cedral Lap weatherboard. We use this premier timber/UPVC alternative for a couple of reasons. Made from fibre cement, the weatherboard is resistant to rot and weather – and is very low maintenance. Combining the look of real timber with these properties makes Marley Cedral Lap weatherboard the perfect granny annexe cladding. We’re so confident in its quality that it comes with a 50-year guarantee.
Standard Granny Annexe Cladding
As mentioned, each of our annexes comes with the wonderful Marley Cedral Lap weatherboard as standard; the most exciting part is choosing which colour you would like on your granny annexe.
Our core annexe range comes with a choice of four classic colours for cladding; Dark Grey, Grey Green, Cream White, and Sand Yellow. Which would you choose?
Personally, we love the look of Dark Grey – it feels contemporary, yet classic and blends seamlessly with existing structures.
For something a little bit more offbeat, Grey Green can work wonderfully in mature gardens, blending in with plants and greenery.
Upgrade Your Granny Annexe Cladding
If our standard four colours don’t take your fancy, we have a premium upgrade alternative; featuring 16 beautiful colours. With our premium upgrade, you’re bound to find a finish that you love.
We have classic shades available, such as Black, White, and a range of greys. ‘Safer’ options such as Atlas Brown and Taupe. For the brave, we have some quirky colour choices, such as Violet Blue, Blue Grey, and Sage Green.
We like the look of Violet Blue if you’re looking to make a stand out with your granny annexe cladding. Some customers like the idea of blending their granny annexe with existing buildings and disguising it a little but you may want to make a feature of your annexe. And there no reason why you shouldn’t – our high-quality annexes are a thing of beauty!
We also love the look of Silver Grey. We used this light airy grey on customer Pauline Kelleher’s granny annexe. She was thrilled with the result and loves how modern this annexe looks.
Alternative Granny Annexe Cladding
Our choices don’t end here; if the Marley Cedral Lap weatherboard just isn’t for you, then we have a couple of alternatives.
You can choose to have your granny annexe coated in Weberpral M. This weatherproof render is available in a choice of four colours – you may prefer the look of render if your existing property is rendered. Weberpral M is also a good choice if you are environmentally conscious; it’s been given a Green Guide A+ rating. The scheme awards building materials ratings based on their impact on the environment.
Finally, if you want to give your granny annexe cladding the ultimate upgrade, you can choose to use Red Western Cedar as your finish. This beautiful wood will give your granny annexe a classic log cabin feel but be aware; it comes at a higher cost and requires ongoing maintenance. If you are determined to have a real wood finish the pros will outweigh the cons.
