Granny Annexe Kitchens by iHUS
As mentioned, you’re sure to be delighted by the range of kitchen options available to choose from when building your annexe with us.
There are several options you can choose from in your new annexe kitchen. As standard, you’ll get an oven and extractor, LED downlighting, sink and worktops. The number of choices you have to choose from is huge, giving your new annexe your own unique touch.
From a selection of cupboard finishes and colours, work surfaces, flooring and even cupboard door handles, we are bound to have something that you love.
Most of our annexes are equipped with open plan kitchens that incorporate a living area. This not only maximises the space in your home, making it efficient, it’s generally also accepted that it’s a comfortable configuration for elderly folk or people with disabilities. Everything you need for eating and drinking is within close range. Plus it feels more sociable – a great feature if there are two of you living together.
Even our economical cosy pod annexes have a generous proportioned kitchen that opens into a sitting room area.
Most of our annexes feature wide French windows in the main living area too; meaning your kitchen will be flooded with natural light and feel comfortable all year round.
Give Your Kitchen the Wow Factor
So, once you’ve settled into your new home and are pleased with your new kitchen, you might start to wonder how you can add further personal touches and create a kitchen you are really proud of?
Here are some of the top ways to give your kitchen the wow factor.
Go bold with colour
Our annexes come fully finished, including painting and decorating but that doesn’t mean you can’t change the colour up. If you have a particular colour in mind before your annexe is finished, speak to your consultant. For a standout kitchen choose a bold colour and continue the colour through to the sitting area for a unified look.  Strong dark colours are popular at the moment – think dark foresty green or deep moody blues.
If darker colours are not for you, then how about trying a coral colour? It’s having a bit of a revival at the moment thanks to Pantone naming ‘living coral’ as their colour of the year.
Add plants for freshness
Maybe you remember the first-time houseplants ‘had their moment’ – back in the ’70s and ’80s? Well, they’re back and more popular than ever.
Add a tropical flair to your kitchen with a selection of houseplants. Our light airy annexe kitchens are the perfect environment for house plants – even tropical ones. Style your plants in groups of three for a designer touch and choose pretty pot covers to match your kitchen accessories.
You could even have a go at an indoor herb garden. Herbs like basil, chives and rosemary are ideal to grow in the kitchen as they stay relatively small and are always on hand to add to cooking for an extra flavour kick.
Coordinate accessories
A kitchen look can really come together with the aid of matching colour accessories – they don’t have to be an identical colour, but choosing accessories such as food canisters, pots and crockery in complementary shades can give your kitchen a more cohesive look.
There are lots of ways you can add colour pops to your kitchen – from a brightly coloured rug to a matching roller blind. Dunelm is a great shop for kitchen accessories.
