Granny annexe ideas can come in many forms. We are so grateful to our wonderful customers who help us create beautiful annexes and inspire others to do the same.
iHUS has been successfully building annexes throughout the UK for several years and as a British manufacturer, we thought we’d celebrate everything good about how inspiring our customers can be when it comes to making annexe living inspiring and a huge success for themselves and their families.
So as the Autumn turns to Winter outside, we thought we’d share some of our customer’s granny annexe ideas as we continue to change people’s lives one annexe at a time…
Design Idea #1 Add a little annexe design magic with external downlights
One of the most popular additions to our annexes (whether they are flat roof annexes or pitched roof annexes) is the spotlight effect of installing downlights in the external soffits.
The annexe owners, Doug and Karen Wishart, are delighted with their new annexe:
“The iHUS team delivered everything they promised and more! The whole process could not have been simpler — iHUS took care of everything including the planning application.
The on-site team ensured that we were fantastic — highly skilled craftsmen, incredible attention to detail and really nice guys.
iHUS ensured that we were happy with progress throughout the build and were quick to resolve any issues that occurred along the way.
Seven weeks after breaking ground, our annexe was complete and we were handed the keys. We’re delighted with our annexe, thank you iHUS!”
Inspiring in design both inside and out this annexe instantly became one of the most viewed on our website.
Downlights like this are available to all our annexe designs with an overhang like Doug and Karen’s and are installed at a cost per square metre which will vary depending on the size of the annexe.
Design Idea #2 Use natural & local materials to create that country cottage look and feel
Working with this annexe owner was a dream come true and this stunning annexe in the Cirencester is probably responsible for more visitors to our website than any other design.
With it’s stunning Green Oak cladding and cat slide style steep pitched roof in reproduction Cotswold stone, everyone falls in love with it’s romantic country cottage look and feel.
With engineered timber casement windows in just the right shade the overall effect is simply stunning.
Working in a conservation area brings it’s own challenges and the materials used to create this annexe were required to gain approval to build an annexe that was indeed totally in keeping with it’s lovely surroundings.
Finishing touches of a dry stone wall and stone slab patio helps complete the picture-perfect annexe.
